The Seventh Curse (1986)

First of all: thanks Jocke for making me buy this The Seventh Curse! It was even better than I thought it would, and it's strange that I hasn't seen it during all these years. This is a classic (I guess) cat III-movie from the golden era. There's nudity, gore, violence, more gore and more nudity. And it feels like one of those indonesian black magic-flicks mixed with a healty dose Indiana Jones. Not to mention it's set in Hong Kong and Thailand, and stars (among others) Chow Yun-Fat and Maggie Cheung! Wow.

Siu-hou Chin plays doctor Yuan (in a trendy and very typical haircut) who get's a really nasty curse on him. After a minor mishap in Thailand he's now under seven curses, and they started one years after the incident. Every 24 hours a little explosion of blood comes out from one after one of his bodyparts. The last one will be the heart and he has just a couple of days to go to Thailand and fight and conquer the dangerous sorcerer Aquala! An irritating journalist, Maggie Cheung, follows him and soon even Fat shows up to use his magic against Aquala!

The beginning is weak and didn't promise nothing, but after a little while the first blood and gore shows up and after that there's a non-stop cabare of funny, cheap and very bloody gore-effects, some wonderful action-scenes - the best one is the heroes fighting an army of angry buddhist-monks on top of a huge Buddha! Some cool stunts here to, and watch carefully and you'll see a stuntman that obvious wasn't prepared when I car is crashing through a hut and he get's hit. I'm sure that was a mistake, and it looks wonderful.

There's two monsters to. First a "blood ghost", a terrible little creature who looks like a human fetus mixed with... no, it just looks like a very misformed human fetus - with an extra couple of arms. And he bites to! The second monster is a demon who reminds me of a big bat, but with an alien-head, and who loves to bit pieces of flesh from people!

So you'll see. Not a boring second and a fine piece of horror-action!

Total classic. If you don't love this, you don't love movies.

Jared: Or, if you don't love this movie you are just... an idiot. Or something witty that I can't figure out right now ;)

Patrick: You have good taste, but we all knew that!

Jocke: Yeah, yeah, yeah! ;)
