My plan was to visit Larry's Corner for the first time, and according to his website he planned to have the store open... but no. So I went to Monkey Beach instead and wished Micke a happy new year and bought some dvds (it's hard to go there and not buy movies). I also took some photos.

Yeah. Micke & the Beach is one of the last friggin institutions left in this town.
Remember when he only had VHS in there, and there was always some damned title he'd spliced into the pile at the top of the celling, and you had do climb up that rickety ladder he used to have there... Those where the days... well it's quite the same actually, apart from that he stocks DVD now and not tapes any longer.
À happy frigging new year to you ;)
Jocke: Have a happy fucking new year you to! ;)
J: I'm not sure how long Monkey has been there, but I've been shopping there for at least ten years. So he's been around!
I used to work at Velvet Video when they where located on Bondagatan back in 94, and The Beach was there already.
So he's been there a while for sure.
J: Velvet Video! I haven't thought about that store for many years! I visited it once a million years ago, don't remember if I bought anything though.
But I was amazed by all the cool movies, the covers, the strange names of the directors...
